John Green Bouldin, Jr.

I started a new spurt of research this weekend, and thanks to a trial membership at ancestry.com, I've found some new census records documenting James Lampkin Bouldin's father as John Green Bouldin, married to Sarah (or Sara). The 1850 US Census of Grant Co, Wisconsin lists John Green Bouldin and Sarah, with children Elizabeth, Rachel, William F, Mary C, John T, Nancy, James L, and George S.

The 1860 US Census of Fillmore Co, Minnesota lists J G "Bolin" and Sarah "Bolin"with children Mary C, John T, J G, Nancy, G S, and Ira. With all the other information matching, I'm convinced the misspelling is a mistake.

This isn't new information, but documentation of information I had. Though it appears multiple times on rootsweb.com, I was not convinced we all had the correct information until I found the census records.

Tobl4136, on rootsweb.com, appears to have very good documentation of the Bouldin line. I'll be pouring over those records next.

Foy Lee Shoemate

Foy "Pat" Shoemate was my maternal grandfather. Though his mother died when I was young, I never met her or my great-grandfather who died before I was born.

Bud Shoemate's father died just before he was born, so there are some questions about his ancestors. Some records mistakenly place him as the biological son of his step-father. I'm interested in finding more information about Bud Shoemate line in the United States, which has gone through numerous changes in spellings.

Eva Lemmon Bouldin

Eva Lemmon Bouldin was my paternal grandmother. I've traced the Bouldin line back to 17th century Warwickshire, England, with the expected changes in spelling of the name.

I'm particularly interested in my great-grandmothers' ancestral lines since women's histories are so frequently lost entirely. They are the most difficult to verify because once they married their maiden names all but disappear from census records and other legal documents.
